FOUNDER, MANAGING PARTNER

Scott adds value to Phalanx and the financial services industry through the efficient and timely process of preparing annual financial statements for the alternative investment industry.  His main clients include hedge funds, fund of funds and private equity funds.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the Silberman College of Business at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park, New Jersey. Scott began his career in public accounting at Rothstein, Kass & Company, where he performed audit and tax services for hedge fund and fund of funds clients. Scott went on to found Financial Reporting Technologies, LLC, the predecessor to Phalanx, where he prepared hedge fund, fund of funds and private equity fund financial statements from 2012 through 2019.

Scott maintains his Certified Public Accountant license in New Jersey, and he is a member of the New Jersey Society of CPA's.

MANAGING DIRECTOR, ACCOUNTING SERVICES

Kristen Lalanas joined Phalanx in 2023 as Managing Director of Accounting Services.  Kristen spent the majority of her career at U.S. Bank Global Fund Services where she served as Managing Director/US Head of Investor Services in their Alternative Investment Solutions division.  Kristen joined U.S. Bank through the acquisition of AIS Fund Administration in 2012 and has more than 20 years of industry experience. Prior to this role, she worked in the audit practice of Rothstein Kass primarily auditing hedge funds and began her career in the audit practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers.  

Kristen received her Bachelor of Science in accounting from Rutgers University and her Master of Science in financial accounting from Rutgers University, The School of Business. She is also a Certified Public Accountant.  Kristen currently resides with her husband and two children in Middletown, New Jersey.

DIRECTOR, FINANCIAL REPORTING 

Since 2005, Daniel has obtained instrumental experience and knowledge across many aspects of the financial services industry. He has performed financial statement audits at a mid-sized audit firm as well as completed and reviewed various types of financial statements for financial service clients of differing structures.

Daniel is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey, and is a member of the AICPA and New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. He currently resides in New Jersey with his wife, two children and their rescue dog, Leia.

DIRECTOR,  FINANCIAL REPORTING 

Carlo has spent his entire career in, and experienced various aspects of, the alternative investments space.  He prepared periodic NAVs and partner allocations at a fund administrator, audited financial statements at a mid-size audit firm, and prepared a multitude of in-house reporting requirements at a hedge fund of funds and private equity fund.

Carlo joined Phalanx in 2020 as a Manager of Financial Reporting and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Rutgers Business School in Newark, New Jersey.  

MANAGER,  FINANCIAL REPORTING

 Marissa began her career in public accounting for the financial services industry in 2007 at Rothstein Kass & Company, specializing in audit services for hedge funds, private equity funds and fund of funds. Marissa later worked at KPMG and EisnerAmper in similar roles. Over her career, Marissa has managed and led over twenty-five client relationships, many of whom she maintains relationships with today.

Marissa received her B.S. and M.S. in Accounting from St. John’s University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in New York and New Jersey. 

Marissa currently resides in New Jersey with her husband and three sons.

SENIOR, FINANCIAL REPORTING

 Jamiel brings significant expertise to the financial reporting team by leveraging his prior experience in public accounting. Before joining Phalanx, Jamiel worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers within their Asset and Wealth Management Practice. His experience includes providing audit and assurance services for a diverse range of clients in the alternative investment space, including private equity firms, venture capital, hedge funds, business development companies (BDC’s), endowment funds, and REIT’s. He has led audit procedures on financial statements, applying his extensive knowledge of US GAAP and relevant industry standards. His core responsibilities extended to managing the review of financial statements, consolidated schedules of investments, and footnote disclosures.

Jamiel completed his academic pursuits at the University of New Haven in Connecticut, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting (Summa Cum Laude) and a Master of Science in Taxation. In addition, he attained his MBA - Business Analytics in May of 2024.
